What’s the Paint Protection Film ?
Paint Protection Film (PPF, also called clear bra, clear film or clear paint film) is a thermoplastic urethane film applied to painted surfaces to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, discolouration, many types of vandalism and minor abrasions. Paint Protection Film is OEM approved by virtually all car manufacturers.
As with many other consumer products, paint protection films were first developed and used by the US military during the Vietnam War. It was firstly used for the helicopter rotor blades and other sensitive parts of military transports often damaged by flying shrapnel and debris. In order to help protect these moving parts the US military asked 3M to come up with this solution. As a result, there are still people in the industry who refer to PPF as “helicopter tape” although this term is becoming less and less common as automotive applications have became the main target industry.
Paint Protection Film require a dust-free environment and all the equipment to be able to supply and fit PPF Kits for any vehicle.
Here at Caged Steel, we’ve got the knowledge and the technology to draw and make any pattern for any car! Also the PPF installation is done in a spray booth to guarantee the best possible result.
